memoir

this is one of my I was 14 years old one of my desired goals was to climb all the mountains in my country, Ecuador. It is part of the Andes mountain range, so we havae a group of mountains. we even have the tallest active volcano in the world, that is Chimborazo, but that is a another story. since the teleferico was installed at Pichincha, it was my first step as a mountain climber. My brother has a friend who is a mountain climber, and with him we were gonna do our goal, which was climb the Cotopaxi. 

the preparation for it, was to climb  the higher and higher mountains in order to get to climb Cotopaxi well.  the first one was climb Rucu-Pichincha. the Pichincha mountain has four hills, and Rucu is the second highest it has. that trip was amazing. first though, I've never hiked for so long, but i knew it was going to take a while to get to the top. this type of 'sport' needs a lot of pacience because it takes a while. what I liked from that trip was the view, and we got to spend time with my brother's friends who I know since I was born, (my brother is 10 years older than me by the way). 

the second mountain we went was Corazon. Its translated to Heart, because from Quito it looks like a heart-shaped heart but upside-down. this is one of a lifetime experience I love to tell. during the hike, I stayed behind with my brother to catch  a breath and drink some water and the rest of the group kept on going. they weren't that far we still could see them. we got to a rocky part where you need to climb some in order to get to the top. I was tired it was a four to five hour hike with little rest. at this rocky part, i decided to climb with my arms because my legs were tired, so I started pulling myself up. there was a big boulder we needed to climb,  my brother was behind me so I had to go first. suddenly the boulder came of the mountain and almost fell on me, but lucky me I reacted fast so that it won't fall on top of me, it just brushed my leg and it got a little bruised. 

After we went to Corazon we then went to the Ilinizas and then to Cayambe to test the crapons and picks at Cayambes glazier. after that we stopped with the hiking adventure of the Cisneros Brothers. Still, I have the desire to climb not just Cotopaxi, but the rest of mountains this beautiful country have.

film analysis

About The Purple Rose of Cairo, we had to watch it for my Creative Writting class. the movie sets in the 1920´s, where Cecilia is the main character, and she lives her life in the city. a hardworker but a little but clumpsy, she is married to a man who treats her like garbage (so sexist). she also likes to go the movies a lot, even do they show the same movie over and over again, she enjoys watching them. the bad thing of the movie is that the setting is the Great Depression, but the movie has nothing to do with it. it shows how people try to escape from reality in the way that she meets a movie character and wants to run away with him.

Cecilia works at a caffeteria, serving coffee to people and working as a waitress. she is really clumpsy do, making her drop dishes to the ground and break them. this gets her fired. the only place where she can be by her on is the theater and watch a movie. at the theater, Cecilia is watching the movie, and all of a sudden, the main character turns to her and talks to her. Tom baxter comes out of the movie, and goes out with Cecilia. they walk in an amusement park where he starts to flirt with her. at the theater the people watching the movie feel robbed and want their money back. know the movie characters interact with real life people.

the productors now worried about the movie character running around outside the movie, want to send the actual actor, Gill, so that it won´t affect the hollywood people. Gill sees that the only way to get Baxter back in the movie, is to make Cecilia fall in love with him. Gill tells her that he wants to go to Hollywood so that they could make a movie together. She was really happy to know she was going to leave her crappy life behind and start a new life. At the end Cecilia was left alone, Gill was gone, so as Tom Baxter. She was trapped in that horrible life she had.

For me this movie shows how reality can be avoided in certain ways. how people seek for a little bit of pleasure and happiness when they suffer. This is a great movie to watch, and people can understand it in their own ways. I think this movie avoids reality, making hard for the audicence understand what is going on around the characters. Cecilia thought that Romance only happened in the movies and tried live it, but she only kept making more mistakes.
